Throughout the course of the year there are three exams you need take to be considered for college admission and placement— the SAT, ACT, and TSI. The Go Center staff will be available to assist you in registering and preparing for each of these exams.

TSI
The Texas Success Initiative Assessment is a test to determine your college readiness in Writing, Reading, and Math. The passing scores are listed below:
- Writing: 4 on the essay and 340 on the multiple choice section; 5 or above on the essay
- Reading: 351
- Math: 350
If you are unable to pass any section of the TSI, you will be required to take a developmental class at your chosen college or university along with credit bearing courses. For TSI testing opportunities, please reach out to Ms. Vega—the Travis Testing Coordinator—in office 009 or Mr. Duran—the College and Career Counselor—in the Go Center.
SAT
The SAT is a college entrance exam required for all students who are interested in attending a 2 or 4 year university. The SAT is timed exam composed of writing, critical reading, and mathematics sections with an essay that is optional, but strongly preferred.

The recommended time to take the exam is in October for Seniors and in March for Juniors. Please make time to meet with the Go Center staff.
ACT
The ACT is also a college entrance exam required for all students who are interested in attending a two- or four-year university. The ACT is a timed exam composed of writing, critical reading, mathematics and science sections with an optional essay.
The recommended time to take the exam for Seniors is in October, and for Juniors it's April. Please make time to meet with the Go Center staff.
