Travis has a campus-wide Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) program that helps students prepare for success in college and in their careers.

The role of AVID is to:

• Teach skills and behaviors for academic success
• Provide intensive support with tutorials and strong student/teacher relationships
• Create a positive peer group for students
• Develop a sense of hope for personal achievement gained through hard work and determination

AVID’s mission is now considered to be an essential strategy for closing the achievement gap, making college access and success available to all students.
