Travis Family & Community Newsletter - October 14 (Attendance Special Edition)

This week is the end of the 1st 9weeks! Please check your students grades and encourage them to get any missing assignments turned into their teacher this week and correct/make up any missing exams. Be sure to check your student's grades regularly at the parent portal: portal.austinisd.org

We continue to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month- This Wednesday is Represent your culture! Wear traditional clothing from your country.

A friendly reminder to submit absence notes to the front office. Absences add up! Did you know, missing two days or more per month means a student misses more than 10% of the school year? Students will receive an "NC" for no credit on their transcripts even if they passed the class. Attendance matters! Be sure to check your student's attendance regularly at the parent portal: portal.austinisd.org

Reminder: Friday is an A Day

Have a great week, Rebels!

Has a staff person at Travis provided you with excellent support or gone out of their way to help you? Send them a RAVE!

Attendance Reminders/Updates

**90% rule what does it mean?**

If a student drops below 90% in a course, an "NC" is entered instead of a grade. The grade may be passing – but the student did not attend at least 90% of the time. Please contact your student’s Assistant Principal to see what corrective steps must be taken.

Notices are going out to families this week whose students are dropping below 90% attendance and we will be required to attend "Attendance Matters" workshop:

  • Required participation in Attendance Workshop on Wednesday, October 16 from 9:30 - 10:30 am

  • Attendance at this workshop can contribute toward credit recovery.

  • To regain credit, students can attend after school tutoring on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 4:45 pm to 6:15 pm through twilight. See Twilight information below.
