📅 Key Dates & Action Steps
Monday, August 3, 2026: All updated routes, schedules, and the online Bus Stop Finder tool go live on the AISD Transportation website.
Free Public Transit Alternative: All K–12 students can ride for free on all Capital Metro bus services at any time.

🛑 New "Hub Stop" Model for Travis HS
Centralized Pickups: To increase route safety and efficiency, secondary school buses (middle and high schools) will no longer navigate individual neighborhood streets. Instead, students will be picked up and dropped off at designated community hub stops (such as nearby elementary schools, public libraries, post offices, and ACC campuses).
Get Involved in "School pool": Parents are highly encouraged to coordinate carpools to and from these new hub locations. Learn more about organizing shared rides via the Movability Texas Website.

📏 Return to the 2-Mile Standard
Updated Eligibility: Austin ISD is returning strictly to the state-standard 2-mile eligibility requirement, sunsetting previous localized exceptions.
Travis HS Impact: Travis High School has returned to this uniform 2-mile standard. Students must live 2 or more miles from campus (or within a designated hazardous traffic area) to qualify for district transport.
Transfer Students: Out-of-district transfer students are not guaranteed transportation. They may only ride if open seats are available on a route, and will need to find alternative transit if a bus exceeds its 45-student capacity limit.

🕒 Suspension of Late Activity Buses
After-School Transportation: Please note that district-funded late activity buses for secondary schools have been discontinued. Individual campuses may choose to fund after-school transport independently using their own campus budgets.
